Next time you wake up with a pounding headache and irritation after a night of drinking, grab a pear or naspati. Even better, eat a pear before you go for the party. A study by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CISRO) indicates that eating a pear or drinking pear juice before consuming alcohol reduces the effects of a hangover. How pears help Alcohol consumption often dehydrates the body, disturbing the natural electrolyte balance. The sugar content of pears helps restore the lost electrolytes and water in your body. Pears are also a good source of Vitamin C which replenishes the lost nutrients in the body, thereby reducing symptoms and effects of hangover. The magnesium content of pears calms the headache and dilates the blood vessels, thus relaxing your body. Pears are also known to eliminate nausea and improve your levels of concentration. This makes it an ideal way to reduce hangover effects, especially if you have a working day ahead. The best way to use pears to beat hangovers is eating it before you go to bed. While you may be sloshed, but drinking a glass of water and eating a pear or drinking pear juice will ensure you get up fresh the next morning. For making fresh pear juice, blend chunks of pear with a little water, honey and some ginger. All these ingredients also help in reducing alcohol hangover symptoms.
